Trevard Lindley is quietly becoming one of UK's most celebrated athletes in ages.  The Hiram, Georgia native has picked up yet another preseason "watch list" mention, as well as several more All-American considerations.

The senior cornerback recently was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, given annually to the nation's top defensive back.  Lindley is among 55 candidates for the honor, which is handed out by the Maxwell Football Club of Southampton, Pa.

Lindley also recently has received recognition from Playboy, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.com as a member of their preseason All-American teams.  If memory serves, the Wildcats haven't had a player with this much preseason hype since offensive lineman Warren Bryant, who was drafted in the first round by Atlanta in 1977.

Lindley has been the model of consistency, starting 39 straight games over the past three seasons.  He has nine career interceptions and holds the UK record with 34 career pass breakups.

Quick hitters

Sean Deveney, a senior writer at Sporting News, has listed his Top 10 picks for next year's NBA Draft and says UK guard John Wall will be the first player selected.

"He's strong, fast and athletic," Deveney writes.  "Plus, he's 6-4.  His jumper needs work, which is why one scout calls Wall 'a bigger, stronger Rajon Rondo.'"

UK forward Patrick Patterson makes Deveney's list, coming in as a lottery pick.  Deveney thinks Patterson will go in the first 10 selections.

"He is 6-9 and undersized for an NBA power forward.  But Patterson is as strong and efficient a post player as there is in this draft," Deveney writes.

UK schedule release show

The much-anticipated release of the 2009-10 Wildcats basketball schedule is soon forthcoming.  WKYT is proud to announce the schedule will be released as a one-hour television show, hosted by Dave Baker, with guests Tom Leach and Mike Pratt.  Coach John Calipari also will make an appearance to discuss the schedule.

WKYT is still waiting word from the SEC on the finalization of game dates and times.  We'll have more information in the next couple of days.

Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
