Jim Brown, named the greatest player ever to play in the National Football League by Sporting News, is coming to Lexington in June.  Brown, who played nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns, will accept the Blanton Collier Award, given annually by the Kentucky chapter of the NFL Players Association.

The former running back was elected to Pro Football's Hall of Fame in 1971.

Following his career, Brown became a social activist and actor.

The Blanton Collier Award is named in honor of the former UK and Cleveland Browns coach.  This is the fourth year of the award, presented to someone associated with football, displaying character and integrity, much like that of Collier.

A reception for Brown will be held on June 17 and is limited to the first 32 people making reservations.  Brown will be presented with the Blanton Collier Award during the Ky. Chapter's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies on June 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Lexington Opera House.
