Later this month, former Wildcat John Wall is projected to be the first pick in the NBA Draft and will instantly become the game's next millionaire. According the 2010 NBA Rookie Scale, Wall will make more than $4 million in salary, just in his first season. That doesn't include any signing bonuses or shoe deals.
Wall will realize a dream he's shared with his mother, Frances Pulley, since he was a youngster.
"This is a dream come true for me," Wall told Chris Miller of Comcast Sports. "It's a dream come true for her, too."
Wall leaves Kentucky after just one season, but became a household name for college basketball fans. Last week, Wall took his mom house shopping.
"It's the biggest thrill," Wall said, while visiting his mother in her Raleigh home. "Her giving me an apartment to stay in, it's not a big time house or anything, like most kids had growing up. I was just happy to have somewhere to lay my head. Just to see her happy, to go around and look, just to see the house she wants to pick, meant a lot to me."
In the coming days, WKYT will be replaying some of the interview with John Wall. Plus, we catch up with Wall in Los Angeles, as he prepares for the draft.
Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
