In January, UK coach John Calipari, his players and staff, led the campaign to raise money for earthquake victims in the Hoops for Haiti telethon.  The event, proudly sponsored by WKYT, made local television history and raised more than $1 million.

Last week, Cal flew to Haiti, just prior the NBA Draft, to get a first hand look at how the money was being used and to help distribute shoes to needy kids.

WKYT's Sam Dick, along with videographer John Wilson, flew with the coach to Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capitol, where the devastation was overwhelming.
