John Calipari led a campaign that raised more than $1 million for earthquake victims in Haiti. Last week, the coach backed up his commitment, by flying to Haiti to see the devastation, first-hand.

In January, UK coach John Calipari, his players and staff, led the campaign to raise money for earthquake victims in the Hoops for Haiti telethon.  The event, proudly sponsored by WKYT, made local television history and raised more than $1 million.

Last week, Cal flew to Haiti, just prior the NBA Draft, to get a first hand look at how the money was being used and to help distribute shoes to needy kids.

WKYT's Sam Dick, along with videographer John Wilson, flew with the coach to Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capitol, where the devastation was overwhelming.

Here is Part. 1 of Sam's trip with Calipari.
