Downtown Cincinnati shooting injures 4

It only seemed like controversy dogged DeMarcus Cousins leading up to the NBA Draft in June. Reports were that some teams shied away from the former Wildcat because of immaturity or a perceived lack of desire and work habits. His draft status, some said, was dropping.
Sacramento took a "chance" on Cousins with the No. 5 pick in the draft, and several weeks later, big Cuz wowed the competition at the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League. For his efforts, Cousins was named the Rookie of the Month.
The Kings and Cousins, it appears, are laughing best.
Now, Cousins is becoming embroiled in another "controversy." Several Internet sites (Walter's Wildcat World, Detroit Bad Boys, just to name a couple), are linking Cousins to the arrest of his Kings teammate, Tyreke Evans, who was stopped during a high speed chase on I-80 near Sacramento, during the Memorial Day weekend.
According to Internet speculation, Cousins may have been driving another car, seen in aerial footage shot by authorities, keeping pace with last season's NBA Rookie of the Year.
Evans, driving a dark Mercedes, is traveling at speeds reaching 130 mph and appears to be racing the second car.
Evans was arrested and charged with reckless driving, but the driver of the second car was not found.
It wasn't Cousins driving the other car. First, he doesn't have a drivers license, which he confirmed again during last week's John Calipari ProCamps stop at Memorial Coliseum.
And Cousins was in the Bluegrass state during the time of Evans' arrest.
According to a source inside Cousins' camp, DeMarcus was in Kentucky on a whirlwind tour, making appearances and signing autographs for fans and sponsors.
Cousins was in Louisville on May 29, then made appearances in Elizabethtown and Pikeville on May 30, followed by stops Lexington and Louisville on May 31.
As a personal aside, I'm sure there undoubtedly are any number of people who want to take shots at someone young, charming and rich. But speculation about Cousins' whereabouts and his involvement in such a dangerous situation are unfounded. And unwarranted.
Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
