It was two short years ago that West Jessamine failed to win a football game. Not only that...the Colts went scoreless in six of the team's 11 games and failed to play within three touchdowns of any opponent. Oh, how times have changed. In just over a season and a half, Randy Wood has already won nine games, including all six this season. His team has recorded What's amazing is that Wood has been a head coach less than five years. In 2004, he took a down-trodden Morgan County program (five wins over the previous five seasons) and won 15 games in two seasons. Now the turnaround is underway in Nicholasville. And quite honestly, West Jess was in worse shape than Morgan. Unbelievable. There's nothing fancy about Randy. His game plan is simple...but hard to stop. Run up the middle...option left...option right...and then throw deep when you least expect it. To cap it all....the team's leading rusher, Duke Brown, had never played football in his life prior to this season. And on defense...West Jess lines up and hits you in the mouth...with just enough speed to make the big play. I've often told Randy, "I don't know how you do it...but it's sure fun to watch". Boy, is it ever.
