2017 Thanksgiving/Black Friday shopping guide

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The National Retail Federation estimates 164 million people will shop during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

Several stores will open on Thanksgiving Day to offer deep discounts to shoppers, among those are both Meijer and Walmart.

"It's going to be chaotic from, say, six [a.m.] when the sale starts," John Jacobsen, with Meijer in Hamburg, said.

Jared Elkins, with Walmart in Hamburg, said, "It's the kickoff of the holidays. It's the busiest day of the year for us in retail."

Some other stores will wait to open on Black Friday.

"We started that last year and we had a great response to it, so this year we're doing the same thing opening at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, so it brings that shopping back into Friday where it had started to creep into Thanksgiving night," Sarah Enlow, with Fayette Mall, said.
