LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- According to the Kentucky Department of Education, schools in the Bluegrass saw frightening levels of weapons being brought to the schools.
According to their website, Kentucky schools saw 403 incidents involving weapons being brought by students. The department does not specify what type of weapon was brought.
Jefferson County led all of Kentucky with 93 weapons with Boone County following with 21. In Fayette County, seven incidents were reported.
Marshall County, the scene of the recent shooting that killed two students and injured dozens saw three weapons in the 2016-2017 school year.
Other schools saw lower numbers including; Rowan County with four, Scott County with three and McCracken County with three.

When on the webpage, scroll down to view "District Report Card" and select the county along with the school year. After clicking "View Card", click on the "Learning Environment" tab on the top of the page. From there, select the safety tag on the tab below and view the numbers under the "Weapons" category.
