ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Kentucky Electric Steel in Ashland will be shutting down its plant in March, according to Ashland Mayor Steve Gilmore.
Gilmore said he received an email from the company Tuesday informing him of the closure.
The email said the plant will be ceasing all operations permanently, and 113 specialty steel works employees will be affected.
The email said the closure will begin March 10 and be finalized two weeks later.
Gilmore said the email cited business challenges as a reason for the plant closing.
