LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) _ There's good news at the gas pump. AAA says Kentuckians will see a 10 cent drop in prices in the next month. AAA attributes the drop to Gulf Coast refineries coming back online after the fall hurricanes.
"Motorists expect gas prices to be cheaper in the fall than they were during the summer months, but that's not the case this year due to hurricanes affecting refining and production capacity in the Gulf Coast," said Lilla Mason, manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA. "While gas prices are higher than we'd like to see, they will continue to decline and could drop by 10 cents in October."
Right now, the national average is $2.49 a gallon. Kentucky's average is about $2.30 a gallon. To find the lowest gas prices in your area, you can click the link attached to this story.
