Adam Burniston's Forecast | Ending the weekend well above average before a major cool down arrives

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We're ending the weekend feeling great, but a big cool down will bring snow and well below average temperatures as you head back to work and school.

Starting out on this Sunday morning, I've been seeing some patch frost across the Commonwealth so you may want to get your car started early to warm up. Temperatures will be in the lower to mid-30s as well to start off the morning, so make sure to take a coat as you head to church or breakfast. By the afternoon some clouds will move in but skies will remain partly sunny throughout most of the day. Highs by the afternoon and evening will reach into the upper 50s with a few 60 degree highs possible.

As you head back to work or school on Monday we will have a nice and cool start to the morning around 40. Clouds will move in throughout the morning and afternoon hours leading to a mostly cloudy day with some isolated rain chances possible. Winds will also be strong with gusts of 30mph likely by the evening hours. Highs will be very mild in the low to mid 60s.

Continuing throughout the work week we have some big changes. Tuesday brings in the first arctic cold front for the week, which will have showers and thunderstorms ahead of it followed by snow chances behind it. From Tuesday into Wednesday, we will also be seeing a 20+ degree temperatures drop with highs only reaching freezing or well below throughout the rest of the week. So, make sure to keep your winter gear ready this week as these rounds of snow continue throughout the latter half of the week.
