LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Snow chances move in overnight, which leads to some of the coldest air we've seen in awhile.
As you wake up and get around this morning temperatures are in the upper teens and lower 20s with light winds around our area. Some clouds will remain around this morning as well with a few breaks around our region. This will likely be our warmest day, but that's not saying much as highs only reach into the upper 20s. By this afternoon, we could also see some sunnier skies that then turn cloudy again as we head into the overnight hours.
During the overnight hours Friday night and into Saturday morning we start to see snow chances move back into the forecast. It will remain mostly in northern parts of Kentucky along the Ohio River Valley, but we could see a dusting in further areas south. Temperatures that Saturday morning will start off again in the upper teens and then by the afternoon we could see highs reach into the upper 20s and lower 30s with a mix of sun and clouds.
As we continue into New Year's Eve and Day that's when we will see a big turn in our forecast with a blast of arctic air. Highs this next week will only rise into the upper teens with overnight lows in the single digits. Once you add on wind chill values we could quite possibly see the feel like temperatures ten degrees cooler. Most of the week will remain dry as well, but the latter half we could see our next snow chances.
