Adam Burniston's Forecast | A near perfect weekend in store for the Bluegrass

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Dry weather is ushering in sunny skies for the weekend with mild temperatures.

As you wake up this Saturday morning and head out the door, temperatures will be a bit on the chilly side. We are starting out the day in the upper 20s and lower 30s with a light breeze. Clear skies this morning will persist throughout the day as well leading to a beautiful sunny afternoon. These sunny skies will help warm us up by the afternoon/evening hours allowing highs to reach into the lower 50s.

Heading into the second half of the weekend on Sunday we will again start on the chilly side in the mid to upper 20s. Sunny skies will once again be around throughout the afternoon as high pressure dominates our forecast, but as it moves further to our east we could start to see some clouds by the evening and overnight hours. Highs in the afternoon on Sunday will be reaching into the mid to upper 50s making for a beautiful and mild day.

Unfortunately, as we head back to school and work our pattern will be changing. Showers and thunderstorms will make their way into central Kentucky by Monday afternoon and last throughout the evening. Then, scattered rain chances stick around throughout the middle parts of the week with the possibility of it transitioning to a wintry mix by Wednesday. Highs to start out on Monday could reach near 60, but then by Wednesday highs will be back down into the lower 40s and even upper 30s before rebounding at the end the week.
