CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Winchester Police arrested a woman after a child ran to a relative's house asking for help.
Winchester Police charged Esther Johnson with two counts of fourth agree assault and five counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to Johnson's arrest citation, police were called to her home on Oliver Street after her nine-year-old ran from their home to a family member's house on South Bloomfield asking for help.
When officers went inside the home, they reported finding Johnson passed out in her bedroom with her one-year-old trapped beneath her. Officers say Johnson was intoxicated and covered in urine.
Johnson's arrest citation states that one of her children told police that the mother placed her face in a pillow and would not let her up while making threats of physical abuse. The child also told officers that Johnson did the same thing to a one-year-old.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in Clark District Court on Monday afternoon to answer to the charges against her.
