Big Brothers Big Sisters in need of volunteers for their School-Plus program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- For the 2018-19 school year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass is looking for an additional 40 volunteer mentors who can meet with their “little” at William Wells Brown, Booker T. Washington, or Breckinridge Elementary Schools for an hour each week, at the same day and time.

School-Plus volunteers spend time reading, playing board games, going on the playground, or just talking with their little. It typically takes 6-8 weeks to process and screen a volunteer to get them ready for a match. Signing up today will enable you to start as a Big Brother or a Big Sister in the fall.

If you’d like to learn more about how to volunteer, visit www.bbbs-bluegrass.org, call 859-231-8181, or consider signing up to learn more at the Youth Engagement Summit (YES) that One Lexington is hosting at the Lyric Theatre on Thursday, May 17th from 9-12:30. The YES event will feature multiple mentoring agencies and promote the many ways you can sign up to support our young people in the community.
