Bodies of Kentuckians killed in Georgia boat crash returning home

ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Friends of four people killed in a boating accident in Georgia say their bodies are being brought home.

Anthony and Tammy Reece were killed last Friday while boating in Georgia as part of a poker run.

They were joined by another couple from Mt. Washington, Arthur and Melissa McMahan.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said all four died after their boat overturned on Lake Lanier.

Friends of the Reece's say their deaths have hit the county hard.

"Just never could believe something would happen to Anthony and Tammy, especially at the same time. But they were always together," said their friend, Troy Hancock.

All four bodies were recovered by a dive team.

Anthony Reece owned Anthony's Auto Sales in Columbia. His family gathered there Monday waiting for the bodies to come home.

"They were just great people. If you needed anything they were there," Hancock said.

Hancock says friends of the family planned to escort their bodies to the funeral home through town on ATV's in honor of Anthony's love for the outdoors.

The Georgia DNR Law Enforcement Rangers are investigating the cause of the crash.
