Chris Bailey's Forecast | Flooding possible this weekend

By  |

This weekend will be a WKYT First Alert Severe Weather Day.

Heavy rain is on the way to central and eastern Kentucky. A Flood Watch is out for much of the region through Sunday. Flood Warnings are also out for parts of the Cumberland River and the Kentucky River.

Rain begins late tonight and comes at us in waves this weekend. Heavy amounts of rain are likely, with a general 1"-3" for many. Local 4"+ amounts can't be ruled out in the south and east.

If you live in a low-lying or flood prone area, please stay alert to the flood potential through Sunday.

The rain ends as a light mix by Sunday night and early Monday.

Mild temps return quickly by the middle of the week, possibly setting the stage for another big rain event later next week.
