LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Showers and storms will hang around parts of southern and eastern Kentucky through the first part of the evening before the cold front finally pushes east. As this happens, look for any scattered storm activity to finally come to an end.
Tonight, a few clouds stick around as cooler, drier air settles in. Look for a pleasant, fall-like night as lows dip into the upper 50's. Areas of patchy fog will be possible early Sunday morning.
High pressure builds in across the region Sunday as a beautiful day prevails. Highs top out in the lower 80's as the humidity remains on the comfortable side. Overall, a great day for mid August!
Rain and storm chances quickly return to the forecast by early next week as several disturbances take aim at the Commonwealth. A few showers and storms become possible late Monday and into Tuesday. A stronger system will bring more widespread storm chances to Kentucky by mid-late week. Temperatures through the extended period remain below normal with highs in the lower 80's.
