Coroner: One dead after boating accident on Lake Cumberland

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Division of Fish & Wildlife is conducting a joint investigation with the Russell County Coroner's Office to determine what caused a deadly boating accident.

The coroner says 70-year-old Kenneth Ducklo from Hamilton, Ohio died. Police believe Ducklo ran ashore up on some rocks around 6 p.m. on Monday in Russell County, near Campbell's Landing.

Other boaters on the lake found Ducklo's body later in the evening and called law enforcement.

Toxicology results are still pending and the man's body is being taken to Frankfort for an autopsy. Bryan Dolen with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife suspects alcohol was a factor.

"There were several open containers of alcoholic beverages. Had coolers, unopened as well. Alcohol was consumed," said Dolen.

Officials say he was visiting friends at Jamestown Marina and was on a channel of the lake between there and Conley Bottom when the crash happened.
