LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The coroner has been called out to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle in Lexington.

The crash happened Monday on Old Richmond Road.

Lexington police say a man driving a motorcycle was traveling outbound when he hit a deer. The Fayette County Coroner's Office says 49-year-old John D. Kepler died at the scene.

"A horrible accident that the deer came out in front and caused him to shut it down. Otherwise, if the guardrail hadn't been there he probably would have been ok because he would have slid into the thatch here from the right-a-way," said Coroner Gary Ginn.

Ginn says there is no evidence to suggest Kepler was driving irresponsible. Thye say it was just a tragic accident.

Police closed part of Old Richmond Road between Evans Mill Road and Turner Station Road as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
