LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington road was closed for several hours Sunday after firefighters found a man dead on the side of the road.

Police say they were called to the scene on Old Todds Road near Ashby Glen Place around 7:45 a.m. They say the fire department arrived first and firefighters determined that a man on the side of the road was deceased.

Later Sunday, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn identified the victim as Aungra Lemon Edwards, 38.

Edwards died of "multiple blunt force injuries," according to a report from the coroner.

Police say they are investigating the death as a hit-and-run.

Edwards mother is now asking for assistance in covering his funeral costs. Attached is a link to help.

Evidence gathered at the scene indicates Edwards was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Old Todds Road, police said.

Lexington Police are seeking the public's help finding the culprit.

The vehicle is believed to be a 2002-2005 silver Dodge Ram pickup truck, police said.

The vehicle will have a damaged passenger’s side headlamp and light assembly in addition to missing flecks of paint, according to police.

Lexington Police are asking anyone who might have been a witness or have any information related to this investigation to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at (859)258-3663.
