HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - There's already a lot of anticipation for the Monday's total solar eclipse as people flock to Hopkinsville, Kentucky for a chance to view the phenomenon directly in the path of the moon's shadow.
"Yeah I was really happy because I didn't want to drive anywhere else," Levi Poley said.
Downtown Hopkinsville has spent month's preparing for an influx of visitors, with plenty of good food on hand , live music, and of coarse eclipse merchandise for sale.
The festivities in downtown started on the 18th and lasts through the 20th and people say they can already feel the excitement.
People from Florida, New York, and many other states across the nation say this town is the place to be for the eclipse.
"Here, this is just a beautiful town. So far just looking at it and everything it's looking very nice and very clean for such a big thing it's just so amazing" Bob & Maria McCluskey Georgia Residents, said.
It's the couples first time visiting Kentucky
The total solar eclipse will be visible from Hopkinsville starting at 2:24 p.m. on Monday.
