Franklin Co. deputies credit "Text a Tip" line in arrest of two men on drug charges

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT)- Deputies in Franklin County credit a "Text a Tip" line citizens used for the arrest of two men allegedly trafficking and using drugs.

Police say they received a text on the tip line to report suspicious behavior and likely drug sales the home of 709 Holmes Street.

On Tuesday, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and arrested Michael Thompson and Jamie Gaines.

According to deputies, Thompson had been trafficking meth and heroin. Along with trafficking, they say he also possessed drug paraphernalia. Detectives also arrested Gaines on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

Another male, Phillip Herald, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Deputies said when Thompson was being processed in the jail, they found more drugs in a sock on his person.

All three of the arrests are lodged in the Franklin County Jail.
