Grinches steal trailer from Lexington animal rescue

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington animal rescue group is looking for the Grinches who stole their trailer.

Workers at Paws 4 the Cause say two thieves took it several weeks ago, but now they are really feeling the effects of not having it.

Surveillance video shows two people pull up in a pickup truck, get the lock off that kept it attached to the post, then hook the trailer to their truck and take off. They didn't seem to be in a hurry. The time stamp shows they were there for about 10 minutes.

As a non-profit rescue group, Paws 4 the Cause already operates on a tight budget. So now that their trailer has been stolen, it's put them behind this holiday season.

"It's kind of punched a hole in things, and we're not able to transport certain things at the moment," said Remy Simpson. "It would mean a lot to us if we could replace this trailer."

Leaders at the rescue say they used the trailer mainly for transporting loads of food - something vital to their mission as an animal rescue.

Simpson says he doesn't expect to ever see their trailer again, so he hopes to be able to raise the money to get another one.
