Hearing scheduled for man accused of putting explosives in game cameras

HARLAN, Ky. (WKYT) - A hearing has been scheduled for a Harlan County man accused of placing explosives in trail cameras.

Mark Sawaf, 39, was arrested by ATF officials Tuesday and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Sawaf is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday.

According to the Lexington Herald Leader, Sawaf is a licensed counselor with offices in Harlan and Lexington.

Two trail cameras were found by investigators on a private mountain trail in Harlan County sometime between late March and early April.

One of the cameras injured a man in the chest and hand when it exploded.

ATF connected the cameras to Sawaf and after a search of his home found materials consistent with what was used in the cameras.

He is charged with with possession of an unregistered firearm and making an illegal firearm.
