FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A bill that would allow casinos in Kentucky is getting bipartisan support.
House Bill 224 calls for putting casino gambling on the ballot. Rep. Jerry Miller, R-Louisville, is one in Frankfort who is in favor of the bill.
"Last July, I took a little road trip. I visited three casinos - Indiana, Illinois, Ohio. I counted cars. Forty-two percent were from Kentucky," he said.
For 20 years, money made from casinos would fund the state public employee pension system. It is currently underfunded by tens of billions of dollars.
Governor Bevin said the benefits of legalizing expanded gambling, don't offset the societal costs.
