LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We are just better than a month away from the official beginning of winter. So a good cold intrusion like this is expected!
Temperatures will likely hover around the upper 30s for highs this afternoon and evening. That is the peak heating of the day. Yeah, I said heating! Winds will probably gust around 15-20 at times and that should keep those wind chill numbers in the 20s during the warmest parts of the day.
As many of you head out for your Friday evening plans, you’ll want to bring along something extra to keep you warm. Especially, those high school football fans. Those wind chill numbers will hang around the teens at times. This will make it, by far, the coldest game of the entire season!
This isn’t a long loved cold snap. It will begin to breakdown as early as Saturday. Daytime highs will most likely stick somewhere around the upper 40s to around 50. This comes as the next system begins pressing into Kentucky. Out ahead of it, temperatures will run warmer. So that’s why you see the sudden spike. It also brings some showers to Kentucky on Sunday.
Have a great Friday!
