LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The warm air is coming to break up the cold's lingering New Year's party!
After spending the first 8 days of the year with ridiculous cold and wintry weather... the party is over! We all know that the temperatures have been brutal recently. This stretch of warm air will be nice! Unfortunately, we won't be able to do much with it. Showers will be back on Wednesday and we'll keep those chances around through the end of the week. Some of the late week chances might be a little more aggressive with some storms possible.
The set-up with temps will be very warm on Wednesday and lasting through Friday. During that time we will see highs push into the 50s & 60s. Friday will be the more interesting day with temps and rain. I think that the actual recorded high will probably be well into the 50s, but temperatures will be dropping through the day. By the time we reach the afternoon hours, we'll probably be hovering in the 30s. This will include some storms.
As this system pulls away it will begin pulling in some significantly colder air! During that transition on the back side, expect to see a period of wintry precipitation break out. What will be the questions lingering over our heads this week? The same as always... how much, where and what type of precipitation. One thing is certain, the cold is coming back one way or another! What happens during the transition is the big question.
Have a terrific Tuesday!
