LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari poked some fun at the NCAA Tournament selection committee Monday after some areas of Lexington received about a foot of snow late Sunday and early Monday.
I’ve figured it out, #BBN. This foot of snow was all to discourage you from going to Boise, a great city and a great basketball town. Don’t let it. Let’s pack that town and paint it blue.— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) March 12, 2018
Many Kentucky fans were hoping for a better seed after winning the SEC Tournament Sunday when the committee placed Kentucky as a 5 seed against Atlantic 10 Champion Davidson in Boise, Idaho.
Boise is approximately a 2,000-mile drive from Lexington, and it would take more than a day of nonstop driving for fans to get there.
Round trip flights leaving Wednesday are currently advertised as low as $450 for travelers leaving Wednesday and returning Sunday. Flight durations could take as little as seven hours while other itineraries have overnight layovers.
