KSP: Suspect on run after shooting in Floyd County

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Floyd County.

The shooting happened Saturday morning near Branhams Creek in the Grethel community of Floyd County.

Troopers say Toby Akers, 41, of Martin, got into an argument with the victim and shot them before leaving the scene.

Police say the victim was taken to Pikeville Medical Center suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police have obtained a warrant for Akers' arrest. He is facing a charge of first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
