LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - When you think of Kentucky two things come to mind - bourbon and horses.
On Wednesday night in Washington D.C., the bourbon industry will be well-represented at The Bluegrass Ball. There will be ten distilleries and at least five Master Distillers present to talk about everything bourbon.
One of those present will be Master Distiller Brent Elliot with Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg.
"How can you do anything Kentucky without bourbon? So it only makes sense that the bourbon industry is gonna have a large presence there," said Elliot. "Certainly if we could fit horses in the ball, they'd be there too."
As the Master Distiller at Four Roses, Elliot makes sure that every barrel is distinct in age, proof, and of course taste.
"It's taken my 11-years, that's when I started here, a little over 11-years ago. And it's really sort of a dream job for me. My backgrounds been chemistry and so I've worked in the lab most of my life, and it was no exception when I started here in the lab, and just when I started we were a small company, and just kinda grew with it. We evolved..."
The Bluegrass Ball is just one of the high scale events going on in the nation's capital this week.
President-Elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated Friday, Jan. 20.
