FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT)- Unemployment rates have risen in 83 Kentucky counties from April 2016 to April 2017, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.
The office also reported that unemployment fell in 28 counties and stayed the same in nine.
Woodford County was reported to have the lowest jobless rates at 3.1 percent, while Magoffin County reported the highest in the Commonwealth at 17.3 percent.
Unemployment statistics for counties are not seasonally adjusted, unlike monthly state and national data. As of April 2017, the unadjusted state unemployment rate was 4.8 percent and 4.1 percent nationally.
These statistics are based on estimates and are made to measure trends, and include non-military workers and all unemployed Kentuckians actively seeking work.
