Kentucky's Attorney General working to protect seniors from scams

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Attorney General Andy Beshear met with regional senior citizens at Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington as part of his Interfaith Travel Series on Scam Alerts.

Earlier this year, Beshear joined AARP of Kentucky and members of the faith-based community to launch the series. The goal is to help better protect local congregations and the communities they serve from con artists and the latest scams.

Scam Alerts is the state's first direct messaging service which notifies Kentuckians of financial schemes by con artists to steal money or a person's identity.

Kentuckians can sign up for Scam Alerts by texting KYOAG Scam to GOV311 (468311). They can also enroll online at ag.ky.gov/scams and select text message or email alerts.
