LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) Malik Monk, the electric shooting guard for UK, was taken by the Charlotte Hornets with the 11th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. There Monk will join former Wildcat star Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Monk was magnificent for the Wildcats in 2016-17 averaging 19.8ppg, shooting 39.7% from 3-point range, and nearly 50% from the floor.
Monk's best highlight, in his one season with UK, came on December 17th when he scored 47 points in a 103-100 win over North Carolina. The 6-3 shooter also pumped in 37 points on Georgia in a 90-81 victory January 31st.
It was thought the Knicks (8th pick) wanted Monk to fit into their 'Triangle Offense', but Monk fell much further than most expected.
