LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- The SEC launched a league-wide policy this year, keeping certain types of bags out of the stadium.
Following in the NFL’s footsteps, the South Eastern Conference announced a clear bag policy. The new policy will only allow fans to bring in large bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC. The size of the bags is restricted to 12” x 6” x 12” in addition to a small clutch bag that must be no bigger than 4.5” x 6.5”.
A clutch bag doesn't have to be clear, and Kroger Field is making exceptions for bags carrying medically necessary items.
"The reason for it is really safety. It's a policy that's been in place at the NFL for a few years now. They've had success enhancing safety in their operations and the SEC's followed suit," says Guy Ramsey with University of Kentucky Athletics.
UK is not the only Kentucky school to participate in the policy. Although the University of Louisville is in the ACC, they are planning to implement the same policy before kickoff. The ACC does not have a league-wide policy about barring bags.
Ramsey says anyone that has any questions about what they can and cannot take into Kroger Field can email their questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
