Lexington Humane Society taking care of animals abandoned during hurricanes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington Humane Society added 14 dogs from Texas and one dozen cats from Florida after the hurricanes.

The group partnered with another organization to pick up the animals in Ohio.

The humane society is encouraging people to adopt these pets and give them a good home.

"We do everything we can for every single animal in our care and that's not going to change with these animals from Texas or Florida," said Ashley Hammond with the Lexington Humane Society. "We are going to make sure these animals are healthy and that they're happy, and if they need a little bit of time in foster care, then that's what we'll give them."

If you cannot adopt a pet, the humane society asks for donations.

Workers say an anonymous donor will match donations up to $25,000.
