LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One Lexington intersection now has a colorful makeover.
The new rainbow crosswalks at N. Limestone and Short in downtown Lexington celebrates the city's rich diversity, according to the Bluegrass Community Foundation.
The Bluegrass Community Foundation is sponsored the project, and administrators say it's all in part to make downtown Lexington more walkable, bike-able, and vibrant.
The initiative is coming to life right before the June 24th Pride Festival to celebrate the city's rich diversity, according to the Bluegrass Community Foundation.
City safety leaders say the intersection just outside the court house can get pretty busy.
"One of the big benefits to the Rainbow crossings will be that there will be extra attention drawn to the intersection. So, motorists will tend to pay a little better attention because something is different. Something's a little more bright and vibrant," said Scott Thompson, Transportation Planner.
