Fire at vacant Lexington building ruled arson

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington firefighters were on the scene of a fire at a vacant building Sunday morning. They say it is the second fire there in the past few months.

Firefighters were called to the warehouse-style structure at the corner of Goodloe and Powell streets in Lexington's East End neighborhood around 6 a.m.

This is the second time in a few months that crews have been called to the exact same spot, which rests nestled between homes and townhouses.

Officials say the cause of the first fire is still under investigation, and an arson investigator was called to the scene Sunday, to determine what started this second fire.

Firefighters tell WKYT's Emilie Arroyo that the first fire burned down a shed on the back of the property, and flames were coming from the same spot Sunday.

It’s unclear if there is any damage to the main building.

Fire officials tell WKYT Sunday's fire is arson. Anyone with information is asked to contact arson investigators at (859) 231-5672.
