Lexington restaurant hosts benefit concert to help Harvey victims

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - They are in the heart of the bluegrass, but they had Texas on their minds.

A big crowd spent their Labor Day at Willie's Locally Known, joining more than a dozen Kentucky musicians playing the music of Texas - together lending a helping hand to Hurricane Harvey victims.

"The folks around here have such huge hearts," said Wilson Sebastian, one of the owners of Willie's Locally Known. "To see them come out and support this in a way that they have just reinforces what I already knew about this town, that everyone is so great."

All money from a silent auction and donations, plus a portion of the proceeds from a food and drink special, will be donated to Houston Food Bank.

"I just hope everybody embraces the fact that by doing little things we accomplish a lot," said Emory Joseph, a musician who helped organize the benefit. "These people in Texas are just like - they're you and I. They're exactly you and I. Their plight is our plight."
