LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The first homicide of 2017 ended up being the first unsolved homicide for the year, as well. It was mid-January when police found 38 year-old Robert Cowan shot on the east side of Lexington at the King Cobra Motorcycle Club.
Cowan was taken to University of Kentucky hospital, but died hours later.
As the sun came up, neighbors began voicing their concern over the random violence along East Third Street. Al Brown has called the street home for fifty years and knew Cowan. "This was more emotional because I knew the young the young fellow since he was a young kid. My reaction was so complicated, my blood pressure went up and I had to go to the emergency room," Brown explained.
The case has been open for almost a year. Police believe there were several people in the area at the time of the shooting, but so far, no one has helped solve the case. Family and friends want closure and police want answers to close the file on the first homicide of 2017.
