Madison Co. EMS records record level of Narcan use through first half of 2017

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT)- Madison County EMS says they have administered a record level of overdoses through the first half of 2017.

Through January to June this year, Madison County EMS has responded to 163 patients that required administering Narcan during those overdoses, a total of 261 doses of Narcan were administered.

Madison County EMS says that in the first six months of 2016 they responded to 123 overdose patients that required administering Narcan and administered 193 doses of Narcan in total.

This is a 35% increase from 2016.

Madison County EMS says that the responses to overdoses is much higher but they did not need to administer Narcan to many of those patients.
