MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT)- A typical summer morning turned a bit more untypical as a woman encountered a large black bear 60 feet from her front porch.
Linda Isaacs crossed paths with the bear Thursday morning in the Waco community of Madison County.
Isaacs has lived at her home in Madison County for 32 years. She says he loves the place for the simple beauty of nature and the peace of quite. She says she has seen lots of animals in her yard but a bear had not been seen until this morning. A sighting that she will never forget.
"Quite unusual sighting, it really was. I’ve never seen anything like it. It unnerved me so bad I couldn't speak. It really did. Because I'm like, surely it isn't a bear and then it topped the top of the hill and there he stood. I mean, he was beautiful, absolutely beautiful."
Linda says she loved seeing the bear and wants people in Central Kentucky to understand these bears are here.
“I don't want anything to damage or harm the bear. I just want people to know that they are here you know, they are here."
With the new sighting, Isaacs says she will be a little more cautious of the nature that comes in her yard.
"When I go outside at night with my dog, I'm going to be very leery of rustling in the trees.”
Linda nor her dog was harmed in the sighting and officials now say this was a positive bear sighting.
