LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- Lexington grocery store and supercenter Meijer is getting ready to deliver your groceries directly to your door. Meijer is partnering with Shipt to provide store-to-door service to households in Louisville and Lexington, beginning July 27.
The home delivery service will reach more than 500,000 households in the Lexington and Louisville area. The service will reach customers in six states, resulting in more than 250,000 home deliveries this year.
Brent Bradford says the program that revolves around being convenient has taken off in other states. He says Kentucky is the 6th state to adapt the program.
"This is our home delivery service and we just see it as a great example of customer first," says Bradford.
Shipt Shoppers will be able to hand pick grocery and dairy items and have them delivered to their doorstep 24 hours a day. To celebrate the launch of Meijer home delivery in Louisville and Lexington, Shipt is offering $25 off the first order to annual members who sign up prior to the launch.
Meijer customers can sign up for Shipt memberships for $99 a year. Delivery is free for orders over $35; a flat $7 fee is added to any orders under that amount.
Bradford says deliveries include fresh produce and over 55,000 other items to choose from.
