More flu cases popping up in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The Cabinet For Health and Family Services (CHFS) says it has received reports of more laboratory-confirmed influenza cases.

On Wednesday morning, CHFS confirmed there are 19 positive cases of the flu. That's up from 15 cases last week.

Flu season typically begins in October or November. The started seeing cases of the flu in September.

State health officials are urging people to go ahead and get the flu vaccine in shot form. The CDC is recommending that the nasal spray flu vaccine should not be used this year because it has been shown to be ineffective.
