Morgan Co. High students being released after threat found in school

MORGAN CO., Ky. (WKYT) - Police have opened an investigation at Morgan County High School after someone made a threat Monday morning.

Morgan County Schools Superintendent Deatrah Barnett says students were sent home for the rest of the day after a note was found in a bathroom at Morgan County High School.

School officials won't elaborate on what is being called a "viable threat", as they say it is an active investigation that also involves law enforcement.

The school's emergency management team came together immediately after the threat was found. A message was sent to parents via an automated phone call letting them know that school was being dismissed.

Parents were able to pick their children up, but the buses also took students home.

Morgan County High School was the only school in the district that was released early today.

Classes are scheduled to resume tomorrow after the building is checked and deemed safe for instruction.
