FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A Frankfort mother and her boyfriend both appeared in Franklin District Court on Friday morning to answer to charges in the death of a three-year-old boy.
Randell Denneman and Deanna Hose both pleaded not guilty to the charges they're facing in the death of three-year-old Avery Hose. Police charged Denneman with murder and Hose with Complicity to Murder. Hose is the mother of the toddler who died, and Denneman is Hose's boyfriend.
On June 25, staff members at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center contacted police about a suspected case of abuse after EMS transported an unresponsive child to the hospital.
Medical officials moved the child to Kentucky Children's Hospital where he died a few days later.
The Fayette County coroner said autopsy results revealed the boy died of blunt force trauma.
The judge plans to hold a separate hearing to discuss the possibility of bond for both suspects.
"We don't have any evidence at this time. All we have is the bare bones allegation in the incitement which doesn't say how Avery died or why," says defense attorney Nathan Goodrich.
Police say they are not releasing any further details of what happened in this case because they do not want to compromise future court proceedings.
