LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- A nonprofit working to educate the community on healthy cooking practices is getting set to open their brand new teaching and processing kitchen.
FoodChain celebrated their new teaching and processing kitchen off West Sixth Street in Lexington.
The organizations say its purpose is to forge links between the community and fresh food through education and demonstration of sustainable food systems.
Opening in 2012, the aquaponic farm was created to teach farming principles in different landscapes and educate people on healthy vegetables. '
The organization plans to use the new facility for more education and a place to store and cook the items they harvest from the aquaponic farm.
They say they are open to donations to keep educating along with lightly used kitchen appliances.
