Parents arrested with drugs inside same home as children

A couple is behind bars after deputies say three children were left unattended while father was passed out with drugs found in home.

According to the Knox County Sheriffs Office, on Saturday deputies responded to Weeping Willow Road in Knox County for two parents being passed out while children were left unattended.

When deputies arrived on scene a witness told them that a two year old was outside alone after dark while a sixteen and fourteen month old were still inside the home.

Upon entry into the home, deputies found the father, 40 year old James Dewran Lowe passed out on the couch. According to the sheriffs office, when they began to wake him up he became physical and deputies
were forced to restrain him.

According to Deputies, upon further investigation they discovered 24 Xanax bars and one Suboxone strip along with drug paraphernalia
Deputies arrested both the mother, 38 year old Melinda Lowe and Father, James Lowe charging them with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, prescription drugs not in the proper container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

James Lowe was given a charge of resisting arrest.

Both Melinda and James are lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Social Services released the children to family members.
