FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 64 in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton identified the victim as 42-year-old Sean Michael McCauley of Louisville.

Sheriff Melton says deputies are attempting to track down the driver who hit McCauley.

The crash shut down a stretch of I-64 Tuesday morning.

Melton says the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes near the Kentucky River, between the two Frankfort exits.

Evidence recovered at the scene has investigators looking for a Honda, possibly a Honda Ridgeline, with extensive front-end damage.

"Whatever it is, it's got heavy front end damage to it. I don't think they could get very far. We've been scouring the exits looking for that vehicle to see if he or she ducked off somewhere or why they didn't stop after the initial crash," Melton said.
