Police: Violent Lexington gas station robbery almost goes unreported

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police want to talk to the employee of a BP gas station about a robbery that went unreported.

The manager of the BP on Richmond Road near Fontaine Road called police a little after 2 a.m. Wednesday to report an alarm was going off at the store, police said.

Police met the manager at the gas station and while investigating the reason for the alarm, police discovered an armed robbery had taken place several hours earlier.

Looking at surveillance video, police determined two men, one armed with a gun, entered the store around 10 p.m. Tuesday night and confronted the clerk.

The clerk did not cooperate with the suspects and there was some type of struggle, according to police.

While the suspects were fleeing, a shot was fired, police said.

Police aren't sure if anything was stolen during the robbery. They're waiting to talk to the employee about what, if anything, was stolen. Police also want to know why the robbery wasn't reported.
